Taking down the Christmas Tree!
Now that the holidays are over it is soon time to take down the Christmas tree.
But how can you avoid the big mess caused by dropping needles all over the
place?
All you need are two old bed-sheets, a sharp cerated knife or some gardening
sheers.

- Unplug the lights and remove all ornaments. Please note that it is illegal to
dispose of trees with lights and ornaments still attached!
- Place the old bed sheets under the tree and spread them to cover the floor as
much as possible.
- Use the cerated knife or the gardening sheers to cut the branches off the tree
and place them in a pile in the center of one of the bed sheets. Make sure the
tree remains balanced when removing the branches and does not tip to one
side.
- Once all branches have been cut off only the trunk should be left standing.
- Grab the corners of the bed sheet with all the cut off branches and tie it into a
bundle. You can now easily carry the entire bundle to the trash container,
open the knots and dispose.
- The tree trunk can now also be taken to the container more easily.
- IMPORTANT: Christmas trees are NOT recycling and must be thrown into the
BLUE containers only!!
Taking the tree down this way not only avoids dropping needles all over your floor,
it also prevents you from leaving a messy trail all the way to the trash containers.
And please do not leave your trees next to the containers.
All refuse MUST be placed inside the containers - Thank you.
It is illegal within Los Angeles county to
leave Christmas trees by the street
curb. Dry trees pose a fire-hazard and
the fines are steep for dumping trees
on the sidewalk!
No Curb-Dumping!
